Work and Nursing

This isn't going to be easy to write.  When I generally go down a path like this, looking at options of how the near future of my life will go, I tend to make a change.  And I'm not sure I want to make a change.

Update December 25, 2021

It's been awhile for an update.  While that would normally mean a longer post, I think this will be short and just hit the updates.  If I want to write more, I can always add it in a later post.  Here we go!

By the way, before I get this started,  I actually wrote the above words on November 28th, 2021.  I only got a couple paragraphs in so the post can still move forward (it's jus an update and now I need to update an extra month worth), but I still find it frightening just how busy I've become.

Vacation Adventure

I don't normally want to make a full post of vacations unless something special happens.  Vacations are time to relax and forget the world.  That's what I expected on this one, but three big things are worth noting.  1) Tiffany is a fine fine ride!  2) Being stuck on the side of the road for 20 hours sucks SO bad.  3) I told my friends about my queerness.  Let's get into it.

Drug Costs

I got this random email the other day from my pharmacy.  I use a mail pharmacy so that I don't actually have to go and get my drugs from a physical location each month.  It helps that they deliver meds in 3 month supplies.  Anyway, I got an email from them that directed me to look at my claim details.  I've always been a little curious as to what things 'cost' medically.  OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!

Tiffany - Reviewed

I've been holding off on giving a review of Tiffany, and this past week I think I figured out why.  A Nautilus can't hold a candle to a Mustang.

Update September 12, 2021

I expect there will be less posting overall.  Lemme explain why.

Tiffany - My Forever Car?

Her name is Tiffany!

Monday, July 26, 2021

And then there were two

On Saturday I had a long list of auto manufacturers I wanted to consider in replacing Nina.  Ford, Chevrolet, Kia, Hyundai, Lincoln, Cadillac, Audi, Buick, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen.  One by one I knocked down each brand.  Sometimes it was because of old technology, sometimes it was because of price.  But regardless of the reason I finally whittled it down to two brands.  Lincoln or Ford.

One Trick Pony

I'll probably post an 'update' later, but right now there's something on my mind.  Yes, once again, I'm car shopping.

Update July 05, 2021

I didn't post last weekend because I was at work.  Yup... worked a weekend for the first time in years.  That's something I'll talk about plus not one but TWO vacation plans!

Filibustering

I don't think it should come as a surprise to anybody that I'm politically liberal.  That's how most of my friends describe me, but then again they're liberals too.  The general population?  I'm super liberal.  Liberal Freak.  Libtard.  This isn't something, however, that I choose or have chosen in the past and just go with.  Instead, I look at every new issue and gauge its merits and practically always end up on the far left of the spectrum.

So, I kind of want to cover several political issues.  Filibusters, student loan forgiveness, green new deal... but let's start with the most obvious thing.  Conservatism.

Update June 20, 2021

A quick update.  I think.

Saturday, June 19, 2021

This could be it!

It shouldn't be a surprise that this has been a bad year and a half for me.  My brother goes through, and is still going through, a bad time in his life.  COVID-19 stomps its way through our society, eating everything in its path.  My aunt dies.  I have my mom move out to keep her safe, then trade places with her and move out myself.  My hours at work change to a time that conflicts with my body mechanics.  I go through some minor, but scary, health scares.  The politics get scary, get better, get scarier, then get back to normal gridlock.

Update June 06, 2021

A late post for me (I wrote half of this last night).  I think that's a sign of happiness!  Who'd have thunk it?

New vs Old Computer Benchmarks

The new computer was delivered and it was EARLY!  NZXT's BLD service attempted to have an ordered computer built and shipped within two business days (if ordered before 3 PM pacific).  Obviously, COVID-19 took its toll there and I was perfectly happy when I ordered the computer on May 4th to be told it should shipped by June 2nd.  They didn't have an option for expedited shipping, and to be honest that would have cost a small fortune for a few days wait,  so I was happy expected to be playing on my new 'puter on the weekend of June 12th.  So imagine my glee when I got the notice that it had been dropped off on May 28th!

Update May 22, 2021

A couple weeks worth of updates with nothing major, but that's why I want to write these update posts.  Lots of little things worth mentioning.  Lets get into it!

Update May 09, 2021

A lot of my week was focused on the computer.  Wondering about it, specing it out, getting excited about it, buying it, doubting that I made a good decision, realizing I'm happy with the decision, and then wanting others to be as excited about the decision.  Oh, and other things happened.

The Video Card Dilemma - Solved!

That didn't take long!  It's technically not an upgrade though, when it's all new.  :)

The Video Card Dilemma

Updated an hour after the initial post!

I want a new video card.  I want one so bad! I wrote about 'readying' my computer for upgrades back in January and even then I'd been thinking about it for three months.  To be honest, when they announced the Nvidia RTX 3080 and 3090 video cards on September 1st I wanted it.  I just figured waiting until it was actually out and had reviews online from legit reviewers was worth it.  And then it happened.  Stock never met demand AND it was worth it.

Update April 25, 2021

You've read about my bad week at work from my last post.  To be honest, that covers most of my updates, but lets see if there's anything else to talk about.

Work is Hell

I have to wonder how much of me changing jobs is a desire to do something new and how much is a growing dismay at my current predicament.  This week was fucking hell at work and I swear I haven't thought this much about quitting a job in years.

Just Dance: Writing Problems

I've talked a few times about me writing a new story.  It's been almost a year since I published Thesis on Fictionmania.  My original plan was always to just pick up the baton where I left off and start a new story.  I even had a story idea I'd been working on since before Thesis with some great sexy scenes and a pretty good overall idea.  But then the reality hit.

Update April 17, 2021

It's been a couple bad weeks at work.  We had the first D&D session in like 6 months.  I wrote about a page of my new story but am wondering if I'm making it too long.  I got caught up in Mad Men again.  I have some financial questions about debt, savings, and purchases.

Xfinity and buying right

I was going to write this in with the 'Update' post but figured it's worthy of its own as it requires a little history.   This involves Xfinity (I'll refer to them as Comcast equally) and the dining room television.  We've had them since.. well, ever.  When we first got cable television back in the early 80s, it was with a local cable company.  That got bought up by a bigger local company.  That got bought up by a bigger reginal company.  Ect ect... it ended up being Comcast and later Xfinity.  My hate for them has grown with each iteration.

Update April 04, 2021

This is one of those weeks that feel equally busy and full while at the same time feeling lazy and empty.

Update March 28, 2021

Two circumstances occurred this weekend that made me realize how updating here is useful and practically necessary.  The first was the mouse post.  I wanted to look back at my mouse history and figured that the frustration I had would have lead me to posting about it here.  Sadly, no.  The only mention of a specific mouse was my post from 2014 where I said I had a Microsoft Sidewinder.  It would have been nice to know more of the dates for the Logitech and Razer mice.  The other thing was looking back at my up and down history of wanting to move out of this house and wanting to stay.   In a very real way, this blog has become my personal journal and is the only record of many of my thoughts.  And looking back at how I think is pretty important, even if it feels frivolous at the time of writing.  So, today I have a bunch of little updates.  Probably useless now, but useful going into the future.

I won't buy a new mouse, I won't buy a.... DAMN IT!

It's been well established that I have impulse control when it comes to purchases.  From socks and pens to computers and cars I just get it in my head that I want it, I do the research for the 'best', and then I wrench my hands for a bit before making the eventual purchase.  Well, that's one of the things I'm trying to work on this year.  I want to be a little stronger willed both in the research portion and the actual buying.  One of the first real tests of this was the keyboard.  And as I wrote about here, I failed that test hard.  To be fair, the purchase part of the decision was already made as the keyboard needed to be replaced.  But not only did I do extensive research into which keyboard I wanted, I ended up buying the exact most expensive option out there.  Now comes the natural progression of having a new keyboard... wouldn't a new mouse look good next to it?

Who am/was I?

"I don't even have a concept of who I was back then."  That's something I heard in a podcast I like to listen to that's really stuck with me.  It got me thinking... who was I back in 2010?  Let's take a look and see.

Winter for Nina

I believe my exact words were "Fuck this shit... I want my snow! I want my winter!"  Will you look at that?  Mother Nature abides.

A New Keyboard and a New Story

I got a new keyboard.  I'm sure it's not a big surprise that I bought something new, but honestly keyboards are important and very relevant these days as I'm writing a new story again.  So, I'm gonna tell the story of how I came to this keyboard, what I think about it so far, and then go into the story I'm writing. If you don't really care about my keyboard journey, just skip down to the section called 'Just Dance'.

Rise and Shine... at 0430?

I primarily want to write about the vaccination process, but I'm also going to add updates on the computer, on cars, and returning to a normal schedule and what all that means.

Saturday, January 30, 2021

Vaccinations and other updates!

This will be one of those 'lots of little updates' posts.  Let's see... I want to talk about taxes, computer upgrades, car dreams, vaccinations, work future, weather, music and music services, new meds, and maybe some more.  Let's start with filing my 2020 taxes.

Fuck 2020 - A year in review

This whole ‘year in review’ idea came from Joanna on her Happiness blog.  This is an idea that I plan to do as often (annually) as I can.  It’s just a bit of a review of what happened over the last year and a list of questions.  The questions, over time, and their answers should be telling on how I’m changing.  I’m writing this without looking at the previous answers so they won’t bias my answers now.
