Broke Keyboard

God Damn It!

Computer and Keyboard

You know, at this point I'm not even going to think this is the end of the keyboard saga.

Keyboard Endgame?

Please please please let this be the end of my keyboard follies.  At least for a few years.

Keyboard End Boss

So yeah, I replaced the keyboard.  The one that I just bought a month back.  FML.

Fixing Keyboard Problems

I didn't really NEED a new keyboard, but when I saw that I'd been using the same one for two years it felt... wrong.

Computer Restoration Gone Astray

I didn't learn my lesson and this time it bit me in the ass.

The New Computer Is Here!

Well, she got here!

FragBox

Sigh.  Yeah, I ordered another computer.  I'm not sure if I can explain, but I can at least tell you my thought process.

Why are keyboards so hard!?

I just can't seem to get a keyboard that works for me.  And now I'm on the search again.  Come along with me if you'd like!

Chromebooks and D&D?

I mentioned in a post on the main blog that I bought a Chromebook.  And yeah, before I go further I need to admit that it was a stupid purchase.  It cost me just under $400 for a device that I'll barely use.  In addition, I already have a folding phone that I paid $1800 for, that would serve a similar purpose with only minimal downsides.  But yeah, I bought a Chromebook.  Let's talk about it.

Wait, Wait, Lemme Explain!

Yes.  Yes, I got another computer but I can explain.   Well, to be honest the explanation might not be all that satisfying but it IS an explanation.  But before we get into what the computer is and what I'm going to do with the old computer I should update for you... and me... what my computer history is.

New vs Old Computer Benchmarks

The new computer was delivered and it was EARLY!  NZXT's BLD service attempted to have an ordered computer built and shipped within two business days (if ordered before 3 PM pacific).  Obviously, COVID-19 took its toll there and I was perfectly happy when I ordered the computer on May 4th to be told it should shipped by June 2nd.  They didn't have an option for expedited shipping, and to be honest that would have cost a small fortune for a few days wait,  so I was happy expected to be playing on my new 'puter on the weekend of June 12th.  So imagine my glee when I got the notice that it had been dropped off on May 28th!

The Video Card Dilemma - Solved!

That didn't take long!  It's technically not an upgrade though, when it's all new.  :)

The Video Card Dilemma

Updated an hour after the initial post!

I want a new video card.  I want one so bad! I wrote about 'readying' my computer for upgrades back in January and even then I'd been thinking about it for three months.  To be honest, when they announced the Nvidia RTX 3080 and 3090 video cards on September 1st I wanted it.  I just figured waiting until it was actually out and had reviews online from legit reviewers was worth it.  And then it happened.  Stock never met demand AND it was worth it.

I won't buy a new mouse, I won't buy a.... DAMN IT!

It's been well established that I have impulse control when it comes to purchases.  From socks and pens to computers and cars I just get it in my head that I want it, I do the research for the 'best', and then I wrench my hands for a bit before making the eventual purchase.  Well, that's one of the things I'm trying to work on this year.  I want to be a little stronger willed both in the research portion and the actual buying.  One of the first real tests of this was the keyboard.  And as I wrote about here, I failed that test hard.  To be fair, the purchase part of the decision was already made as the keyboard needed to be replaced.  But not only did I do extensive research into which keyboard I wanted, I ended up buying the exact most expensive option out there.  Now comes the natural progression of having a new keyboard... wouldn't a new mouse look good next to it?

A New Keyboard and a New Story

I got a new keyboard.  I'm sure it's not a big surprise that I bought something new, but honestly keyboards are important and very relevant these days as I'm writing a new story again.  So, I'm gonna tell the story of how I came to this keyboard, what I think about it so far, and then go into the story I'm writing. If you don't really care about my keyboard journey, just skip down to the section called 'Just Dance'.

Rise and Shine... at 0430?

I primarily want to write about the vaccination process, but I'm also going to add updates on the computer, on cars, and returning to a normal schedule and what all that means.

Vaccinations and other updates!

This will be one of those 'lots of little updates' posts.  Let's see... I want to talk about taxes, computer upgrades, car dreams, vaccinations, work future, weather, music and music services, new meds, and maybe some more.  Let's start with filing my 2020 taxes.

'Ronacation

I never heard back from my HUM on whether or not I'd be able to work from home.  I think some of that may be me inadvertently pissing her off.  We've both talked about people taking advantage of the system we work in.  For instance, if you're a close contact you can choose to follow our new guidelines.  Those are the getting a  temp check twice a day, even when you're not working, and getting an instant test every day.  If you choose not to do that, then you have to sit out for two weeks.  Well, we've had nurses that have been close contacts that have chosen to get their 'Ronacation (a vacation that's paid for because it's created by having exposure to the coronavirus) instead of going through some easy to follow safety measures and coming in to help out.

Voting Time!

I guess this will be just a bunch of mini updates as I have a lot of things to talk about, but not a lot to say about any of them.
