I've been meaning to write a post along these lines for a while now. A lot of this is specific to President Trump, but a lot of it is about conservatism, liberalism, MAGA, and just politics in general. But the longer I put it off, the longer the post got in my head and the more difficult it became to start. Just a few things that I wanted to address or write about:
- Attempting to end birthright citizenship
- DOGE in general
- Elon Musk running DOGE in particular
- Closing down Foreign aid
- Tarrifs
- Strikes on Iran
- Ridiculous attempts to get the Nobel Peace Prize
- Ukraine
- The Epstein files
- Military strikes on boats in the Caribbean
- Gaza
- Venezuela
- Greenland
- Iran again
- ICE in LA
- ICE in Chicago
- ICE in Portland
- ICE in the Twin Cities
- The Murder of Renee Good
- The Execution of Alex Pretti
Obviously, the list could go on and on. The only common thread in the Trump presidency so far has been outrage over something new every day. But how do I tackle all of this?
Well, I don't do it all at once. I'm going to try to do something similar to my Update posts. Not a series covering the same thing each time, but a series specifically dedicated to politics. That way I won't feel overwhelmed and can take on bigger sweeping themes, or smaller specific items and won't feel that I'm leaving something out.
I was going to just put this under Politics, but I think I'll add another label. Political Considerations. It IS politics, but it's something more. Something different.
I think there are going to be a few common themes. Liberalism vs Conservatism. Extremes in politics. The seemingly blind group of voters on the right. Right now, that group can be called 'MAGA' but they've been here for longer than President Trump's calling card saying. Remember the Tea Party?
One common problem I see... just thinking about politics is draining for me. This might be one of my shortest posts, but I'm already drained. Hey, at least I got this out. I've publicly declared that I'm going to do this which will help me take the next step instead of holding off for another day or week or month...
