Update March 28, 2021

Two circumstances occurred this weekend that made me realize how updating here is useful and practically necessary.  The first was the mouse post.  I wanted to look back at my mouse history and figured that the frustration I had would have lead me to posting about it here.  Sadly, no.  The only mention of a specific mouse was my post from 2014 where I said I had a Microsoft Sidewinder.  It would have been nice to know more of the dates for the Logitech and Razer mice.  The other thing was looking back at my up and down history of wanting to move out of this house and wanting to stay.   In a very real way, this blog has become my personal journal and is the only record of many of my thoughts.  And looking back at how I think is pretty important, even if it feels frivolous at the time of writing.  So, today I have a bunch of little updates.  Probably useless now, but useful going into the future.

I won't buy a new mouse, I won't buy a.... DAMN IT!

It's been well established that I have impulse control when it comes to purchases.  From socks and pens to computers and cars I just get it in my head that I want it, I do the research for the 'best', and then I wrench my hands for a bit before making the eventual purchase.  Well, that's one of the things I'm trying to work on this year.  I want to be a little stronger willed both in the research portion and the actual buying.  One of the first real tests of this was the keyboard.  And as I wrote about here, I failed that test hard.  To be fair, the purchase part of the decision was already made as the keyboard needed to be replaced.  But not only did I do extensive research into which keyboard I wanted, I ended up buying the exact most expensive option out there.  Now comes the natural progression of having a new keyboard... wouldn't a new mouse look good next to it?

Who am/was I?

"I don't even have a concept of who I was back then."  That's something I heard in a podcast I like to listen to that's really stuck with me.  It got me thinking... who was I back in 2010?  Let's take a look and see.

Winter for Nina

I believe my exact words were "Fuck this shit... I want my snow! I want my winter!"  Will you look at that?  Mother Nature abides.

A New Keyboard and a New Story

I got a new keyboard.  I'm sure it's not a big surprise that I bought something new, but honestly keyboards are important and very relevant these days as I'm writing a new story again.  So, I'm gonna tell the story of how I came to this keyboard, what I think about it so far, and then go into the story I'm writing. If you don't really care about my keyboard journey, just skip down to the section called 'Just Dance'.

Rise and Shine... at 0430?

I primarily want to write about the vaccination process, but I'm also going to add updates on the computer, on cars, and returning to a normal schedule and what all that means.

Vaccinations and other updates!

This will be one of those 'lots of little updates' posts.  Let's see... I want to talk about taxes, computer upgrades, car dreams, vaccinations, work future, weather, music and music services, new meds, and maybe some more.  Let's start with filing my 2020 taxes.

Fuck 2020 - A year in review

This whole ‘year in review’ idea came from Joanna on her Happiness blog.  This is an idea that I plan to do as often (annually) as I can.  It’s just a bit of a review of what happened over the last year and a list of questions.  The questions, over time, and their answers should be telling on how I’m changing.  I’m writing this without looking at the previous answers so they won’t bias my answers now.
